The annual Scottish National and Lowland Open Longboarding Championships took place last Saturday the 16th of May at Pease Bay. The epic swell forecast did not disappoint, and the first heat of the Scottish Nationals Open Mens Quarter Finals was in the water at 0830. The Spring tide was pushing most of the day, leading to chunky and challenging conditions for the surfers to show off their skills.
During the course of the day we saw some stand out performances, including from Iona Turner (our New Open Women’s Scottish National Champion), Hannah Sharp (our new Women’s Lowland Open Champ) and Ansel Parkin (retaining his Men’s National and Lowland Open titles from 2025) with one of the most notable victories being that of Rudi Johnston-Forrest beat Ansel for the Scottish National U18 Boys title. Freya Pilarksa also took top honours in the Scottish National U18 Girls division – earning herself a place in the Scottish Junior National team heading to Bundoran in Ireland this Autumn for the European Junior Championships.
Surfers from Scottish National Championships divisions qualified to meet international surfers to compete for Lowland Open titles. A SUP division was also added onto the event.
A huge thank you to all our event sponsors : Finisterre, Lost Shore, Vision Events, Verdant Leisure, Coast to Coast Surf School and the numerous volunteers who helped make the event possible.
