Scottish Surfing is proud to announce the selection of two outstanding young athletes, Joel Christopherson and Rosie Moore, who will represent Scotland at the prestigious 2025 ISA World Junior Surfing Championship, taking place in Punta Rocas, Peru, from 5–14 December 2025.

Rosie Moore (BHSC)

The World Championships are the premier international event for junior surfers, attracting the best emerging talent from around the world. Set against the backdrop of the renowned Punta Rocas and El Bosque breaks, the competition provides an exceptional platform for young athletes to showcase their skills on the international stage.

Joel Christopherson has earned his place on the team through consistently strong performances, demonstrating power, precision and composure under pressure. His ability to adapt to challenging wave conditions and surf strategically in competition has made him a standout in the Boys Junior category. Joining him is Rosie Moore, who has shown remarkable progression over the past season. Known for her fearless approach and stylish surfing, Rosie has impressed the Scottish Surfing Selection Panel with her competitive mindset and readiness to take on the world’s best juniors in the Girls Junior category.

With the ISA’s confirmation of the event’s location and dates coming so close to the Championships itself, the past few weeks have involved careful and intensive discussions between athletes, families, and Scottish Surfing to assess availability. As a result of the short timeframe, several selected athletes were unfortunately unable to commit to attending the event.

Joel Christopherson (BHSC)

Joel and Rosie will travel to Peru not only to compete but also to gain invaluable experience at one of the highest levels of junior surfing. Their participation represents an important opportunity to showcase Scottish talent on the global stage and to inspire the next generation of young surfers at home. They will be ambassadors for the sport, demonstrating the resilience and ambition that defines Scottish surfing.

Scottish Surfing encourages the surfing community, supporters and partners to get behind Sam and Rosie as they prepare for this exciting challenge and to assist in overcoming the significant costs in attending this event for both families through the Team Scotland Crowdfunder.
